Three Dead, Fifteen Injured in Kapiri Mposhi Road Traffic Accident

Three people have died while fifteen others sustained serious injuries following a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on April 11, 2026 around 09:40 hours in Luanshimba area along the Great North Road in Kapiri Mposhi District.
The accident involved a Nissan Caravan public service minibus registration number CAK 4236ZM, driven by Watson Sililo, 36, of Lusaka West. The vehicle, which had eighteen passengers on board, was extensively damaged.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed while travelling towards Kabwe. The minibus veered off the road and overturned into a drainage.
Three passengers died on the spot and have been identified as Elton Mulenga, 38, of Lusaka, an unidentified adult male, and a female juvenile whose identity is yet to be established.
Fifteen passengers comprising five males and ten females sustained serious injuries and are currently admitted to Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital receiving treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Kapiri Mposhi Urban Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem examinations.
Police have instituted investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident and have urged motorists to exercise caution, observe speed limits, and adhere strictly to road traffic regulations.
