Security Guard Murdered, Shops Robbed in Kitwe’s Musonda Compound

A 66-year-old security guard identified as Mushili Chungu has been murdered during a suspected robbery incident in Musonda Compound of Kitwe on the Copperbelt Province.
Confirming the development, Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi said the victim was discovered unconscious with a deep head injury and was later pronounced dead.
Police reports indicate that unknown criminals also broke into two shops at Mufuchani Market, stealing goods valued at approximately K34,300 from Victor and Sons shop owned by Victor Lungu, and K28,950 worth of merchandise from Bit by Bit shop owned by Mwanauta Chrispin.
Mr. Yuyi stated that the incident is believed to have occurred between 21:00 hours on April 9, 2026 and 05:30 hours on April 10, 2026.
Police have since launched investigations into the matter. No arrests or recoveries have been made so far, and authorities are appealing to members of the public with information to assist law enforcement.
