Lusaka Wife Catches Husband With Her Sister, Court Grants Divorce
A Lusaka couple's troubled marriage came to an end after allegations of infidelity and years of conflict, leading the Matero Local Court to grant a divorce.
The Matero Local Court has dissolved the marriage between Martha Muthali, 42, and her husband Michael Ntonkanya, 42, following a series of disputes and allegations that strained their relationship.
During court proceedings, Martha told the court that she had experienced repeated challenges in the marriage, including allegations of infidelity involving her husband.
She testified that she was deeply hurt after allegedly discovering her husband in a compromising situation involving a close family member.
Martha also informed the court that trust within the marriage had broken down over the years, making it difficult for the couple to continue living together peacefully.
For his part, Michael told the court that he had lost interest in the marriage and cited ongoing disagreements, communication challenges and financial disputes within the household.
He further stated that the relationship had become difficult to maintain and expressed his desire for the marriage to be dissolved.
After hearing testimony from both parties, Magistrate Lewis Mumba ruled that the marriage had irretrievably broken down and granted the divorce.
The court also ordered Michael to compensate Martha with K1,000 in relation to the adultery claim and awarded custody of the couple's child to the mother.
The magistrate noted that the relationship had become toxic and that separation was in the best interests of both parties.
