Three Dead In Suspected Domestic Violence Shooting In Lusaka
Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in Lusaka after a man allegedly shot and killed his wife and her brother before fatally shooting himself.
Police have launched investigations into a suspected murder-suicide that claimed three lives in Makeni Villa, Lusaka, on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Clifford Chileshe, 45, his wife Theresa Nyambe, 43, and her younger brother Innocent Nyambe, 39, a state lawyer.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, the incident occurred at around 15:00 hours on July 8, 2026. Officers who responded to the scene found all three victims with gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting followed a domestic violence complaint Theresa had reported to Kanyama Police Station on July 6, alleging that her husband had assaulted her. A case was opened and she was issued with a Police Medical Report Form.
On the day of the incident, Theresa and her brother reportedly returned to the police station to follow up on the matter before proceeding to the matrimonial home after police issued a call-out notice requiring Chileshe to report to the station.
Police believe that shortly after they arrived at the residence, Chileshe allegedly shot Innocent before fatally shooting Theresa outside the house. He is then believed to have turned the firearm on himself.
Officers recovered eight spent cartridges and two firearms, identified as a CANIK pistol and a Millennium G2 pistol. Both weapons have been seized for forensic examination.
A Nissan Navara and a Subaru Impreza found at the scene have also been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.
The bodies have been transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while police continue with investigations to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
