Brutal Taxi Driver Murder Suspect Captured As Police Continue Manhunt
Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a Mongu taxi driver whose body was discovered with multiple injuries after being reported missing.
The Zambia Police Service has arrested a suspect linked to the murder of Mongu taxi driver Isaac Fobolo Musenge, aged 42, who was reported missing on March 22, 2026.
Western Province Police Commissioner Rae Hamoonga confirmed the development in a statement issued to ZNBC News.
According to investigations, Musenge was allegedly murdered between March 20 and March 21 in the Mawawa area of Mongu District.
Police reports indicate that the deceased sustained multiple serious injuries, including deep cuts to the neck and forehead.
Authorities further revealed that his legs were tied with wire before his body was dumped in what investigators believe was an attempt to conceal the crime.
Two suspects, identified as Emmanuel Kashweka Zelelengwe and Mukena Kekelwa of Mandanga Area, are alleged to have been involved in the attack.
Following the murder, the suspects allegedly stole the victim’s grey Toyota Wish motor vehicle and transported it to Kanyama Compound in Lusaka, where it was reportedly stripped for parts.
Police have since recovered the vehicle, which is currently being held at Mongu Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
Mr. Hamoonga disclosed that Zelelengwe is currently in custody at Luangwa Police Station under Lusaka Division and is expected to be transferred to Mongu for further investigations.
Meanwhile, police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend the second suspect, Mukena Kekelwa, who remains on the run.
The Zambia Police Service has appealed to members of the public with any information that may assist in the arrest of the remaining suspect to report to the nearest police station.
