Chanda Pleads Not Guilty To Child Trafficking Charges
Edward Chanda of the music duo Chanda Na Kay has pleaded not guilty to child trafficking and two other child-related offences before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.
Edward Chanda, a member of the popular music duo Chanda Na Kay, has pleaded not guilty to charges of child trafficking, child grooming and child solicitation before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.
Chanda, who is currently out on bail, appeared in court where he denied all three charges leveled against him by the State.
The court heard that trial proceedings in the matter are expected to commence on June 1, 2026.
According to the allegations, Chanda is accused of trafficking a child identified as WK within Zambia on August 3, 2025, allegedly for purposes of sexual exploitation. The charge is said to be contrary to provisions of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act No.11 of 2018.
He is further alleged to have used a computer or computer system in July 2025 to groom and solicit the child for sexual activity, offences which allegedly contravene sections of the Cyber Crimes Act No.4 of 2025.
The accused maintains his innocence as the matter now awaits full trial before the court.
