Governance expert Wesley Miyanda has welcomed President Hakainde Hichilema’s state visit to Zimbabwe, saying it brings renewed optimism for citizens of both nations. Mr. Miyanda pointed out that Zambia and Zimbabwe share deep historical and cultural ties dating back to colonial times and Zambia’s support for Southern Rhodesian freedom fighters. In an interview with Phoenix News, he emphasized that President Hichilema’s visit signals Zambia’s commitment to strengthening regional diplomacy and boosting cross-border cooperation for inclusive economic growth. He noted that the establishment of the Bi-National Commission shows both leaders’ resolve to accelerate joint infrastructure projects and deepen integration.
