Police Arrest Traditional Healer, Son, and Businessman for Midnight Rituals at Cemetery

Police in Lusaka have arrested three individuals, including a traditional healer and his 17-year-old son, after they were allegedly caught performing rituals at Leopard’s Hill Cemetery on the grave of a deceased police officer.

According to Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the suspects were found at midnight with fresh bleeding tattoos on their bodies, gathered around the grave of Chief Inspector Thole, a Chilenje Police Station officer who died in 2018... Read more 

The suspects have been identified as:

Venture Mulilanduba (40) – businessman from Makeni and owner of Denotative Funeral Parlour at UTH premises.

John Nyirenda (46) – traditional healer from Lundazi.

His 17-year-old son from Chilenje.

The arrests followed a report made at 00:00 hours on September 18, after a Lusaka Divisional patrol team intercepted the trio at the cemetery around 23:30 hours on September 17.

Investigations indicate that Mulilanduba, who had been facing business and marital challenges, was introduced to Nyirenda in May this year through a mutual acquaintance. Police say the group trespassed onto the officer’s grave—who is believed to be related to the healer—and began conducting rituals.
