"I Was Stripped Naked At Gunpoint" — John General Tells Court In Ongoing Trial
Miracle Impact Church overseer Pastor John Nundwe, popularly known as John General, has told the Lusaka Magistrates' Court that he was stripped naked at gunpoint during what he described as an extortion attempt.
The ongoing trial involving Miracle Impact Church overseer Pastor John Nundwe, commonly known as John General, took a dramatic turn after the accused presented his defence before the Lusaka Magistrates' Court.
Giving sworn testimony before Resident Magistrate Amy Masoja, Mr. Nundwe denied the allegations against him and claimed that he had been lured to the complainant's residence under the pretext of collecting a gift.
According to his testimony, an unidentified man allegedly emerged upon his arrival, pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to remove his clothing.
Mr. Nundwe told the court that he complied with the instructions out of fear for his life.
He further alleged that while he was seated on the floor without clothing, photographs were taken and threats were made that the images would be circulated publicly unless money was paid.
The testimony forms part of the defence case in response to allegations made by the complainant, who previously told the court that she was sexually assaulted on November 22, 2023.
The State has already closed its case after calling ten witnesses, including the complainant, and presenting forensic and corroborative evidence.
Earlier this year, the court ruled that a prima facie case had been established, requiring the accused to enter his defence.
The National Prosecution Authority has reminded the public that the accused remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The matter continues before Resident Magistrate Amy Masoja, with the defence expected to call additional witnesses before closing its case.
