Court to Hear Case Challenging Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

The Gaborone High Court is set to hear a landmark case challenging the legality of same-sex marriage under the country’s Marriage Act.

The case has been filed by Bonolo Selelo and Tsholofelo Kumile, who are asking the court to determine whether existing laws that prohibit same-sex marriage are consistent with the Constitution.

According to court documents, the applicants argue that the current law violates constitutional rights, including equality and protection from discrimination.

The upcoming hearing is expected to examine whether the Marriage Act’s definition of marriage aligns with constitutional provisions.

The case has already sparked widespread public debate, with legal experts and rights groups closely watching the proceedings as the court prepares to interpret the law.
